Free Wi-Fi Smart Tree relocated in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The smart tree setup to provide free Wi-Fi facility at the Coimbatore VOC ground has been relocated. Various development works are being done in Coimbatore under the smart city project. As a part of it a Smart Tree was set up in VOC ground with free Wi-Fi facility 2 years ago.
The top of the tree was fitted with solar panels that produced 500 watts of electricity per day and were used to charge the WiFi facility along with charge for cell phone laptops. The public were not allowed inside the VOC grounds to prevent public gatherings due to the coronavirus
This led to the tree remaining unused. So the tree is currently being relocated in front of the Court near VOC zoo that is investigating the case of bombing.Corporation officials said, "The work of setting up a smart tree near the VOC zoo is in full swing. Work is underway to set up a concrete floor around it and set up five benches to seat 30 people."
