Unhygienic drinking water supply near Coonoor - Public blame officials for apathy
The Nilgiris: Near Coonoor, drinking water supplied to homes through pipes has become unusable due to mixing of sewage.
More than a hundred families live in the Kumaran Nagar area of Coonoor. Residents of the area have complained that the drinking water distributed here for the past three weeks has been stinking with sewage.
Residents of the area reported negligent response to a complaint directly to municipal officials about the mixing of sewage in the drinking water. The people of the area continue to allege that there is a risk of spreading the disease to the people of the area who use this water.
When asked about this, the municipal staff assured that they were inspecting the place where the sewage was mixing and would find and fix it as soon as possible as there was difficulty in locating it.
