PAP Irrigation Scheme farmers on a one-day hunger strike
Coimbatore: PAP Irrigation Scheme is holding a one day attention seeking hunger strike in Tirupur District Palladam Taluk Pongalloor Union from this morning till evening. More than 500 farmers are participating in this hunger strike.

The hunger strike is being held in support of various demands, including the immediate implementation of the Annamalaiyar-Nallaru projects, the immediate holding of elections for irrigation systems, the rehabilitation of dilapidated areas in the main canal and branch canal areas of the Kandur canal, and the setting up of a technical committee for the Parambikulam- Aliyar project.

Farmers claim that the BAP irrigation canal will benefit about 45,000 acres of agricultural land per zone alone, while about 25,000 farming families will benefit from the implementation of the above projects.
