Car stolen at knifepoint in Coimbatore

A gang reportedly stole a car near Madukkarai Flyover, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Musthafa (34) and his friend Shajhussain (35) came to Coimbatore from Nadukal area, Palakkad, Kerala on January 11th. They went to Oppanakara Street in Coimbatore and got themselves a cardboard box and was on their way to Mannarkad, Kerala around 9 pm.

When the car was nearing Madukkarai flyover, a truck which was coming on the opposite side barricaded the car. Meanwhile a mysterious group of 6 arrived in a car and broke the glass of the car belonging to Musthafa.

The gang then attacked both individuals and stole the car away towards Kerala.

Post this Musthafa filed a complaint at the Madukkarai Police Station under which a special team under Police Inspector Murugesh were conducting their investigation further.

Meanwhile police officials recovered the car near Mithiravilai in Kanyakumari. During further investigation, cops from analysing CCTV footage found that the truck which barricaded the car went towards Kerala. Police then arrestedLorry Driver Muhammed Afzal (29) who helped in the crime.

He was then investigated about his friends who were involved in the robbery. With the confession, Police Officials arrested Akbar (35) for his involvement in the robbery.

Police after investigating Akbar sent two special teams in Kerala looking for the main culprits who are involved in the case. Akbar was then produced at the Court and is now under custody in Avinashi.
