Need to carry proof while carrying more than Rs. 50,000


Coimbatore: Chief Election Commissioner of India Sunil Arora has officially announced the Tamil Nadu elections. This was followed by the enactment of the Electoral Code of Conduct. The election code of conduct has been in effect since the announcement of the election date. Some of the rules include

- There is no restriction to holding the assembly. But new announcements cannot be made.

- 45 companies of paramilitaries have arrived in Tamil Nadu for the first phase of election security work. They will also work with the Tamil Nadu Police and additional paramilitaries were called in.

- Polling stations are currently finalized in 70 percent of the districts. Other districts will be completed today.

- Flying Squad Level Monitoring Committee will be set up to prevent cash flow. The Election Commission has issued a notification regarding the election rules of the ruling party

- Ministers should not combine their office work and election work at the same time

- Government machinery and personnel should not be used for electoral work and party purposes

- The ruling party alone should not occupy public spaces and helicopter bases such as stadiums and should allow for other parties and candidates

- No party or candidate shall use government restrooms and mansions to hold meetings as an election office. Ministers and officials should not give anything away from their discretionary funds after the election is announced.

- Should not lay the foundation for project work or projects and should not provide temporary appointments in government and public sector institutions.

The public can lodge a complaint through the contact number 1950 and action will be taken on them immediately. Two Expenditure Supervisors have been appointed for Tamil Nadu and they are in consultation with the bank officials on how to prevent money transfer and personnel will be set up to monitor them.

Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu Satyaprada Sahu said there are various rules for carrying electoral machines and they will be followed and she added that for carrying more than 50,000 rupees, they must have proof of where the money is being taken to.
