Passengers footfall has increased from 1.11lakh during Jan 2020 to 1.28lakhs in 2021 at Coimbatore airport: 'DGCA' issues circular to provide special offers to passenger's who carry less luggage
Coimbatore: In spite the fear and the restrictions on pandemic outbreak, passengers footfall has increased to 1.28 lakhs during January 2021.
Coimbatore International Airport which serves the aviation need's of people's from surrounding 7 districts, the airport is yet to witness normalcy after pandemic outbreak. At present only domestic sector flights are only allowed to operate. In the international sector Repatriation flight services are only permitted.
At present each day on an average more than 15 flights are operated at Coimbatore airport. In spite the fear and the restrictions on pandemic outbreak, the passenger's footfall has witnessed a steady growth.
As per the official data shared by Airports Authority of India, the Coimbatore airport has registered 1,11,822 passenger's footfall during 2020 January. During 2021 it has increased to 1,28,358 passengers.
Aviation sources said, "Post pandemic outbreak, the airport started witnessing good growth. But suddenly the restrictions implemented for passengers who come from Kerala and few other states has again hit the aviation sector growth. Some airlines have temporarily cancelled some of their services. But still the passengers movements continue to witness a steady growth. The data provided by AAI itself an evidence. Meanwhile the aviation watchdog 'DGCA' has issued circular to provide special offers to passenger'swho bring less luggage."
Sources from 'Indigo' said, "At present each passenger is permitted to carry upto 15 kilos as check in baggage and 7 kilos as cabin baggage. We have not yet received the update on the DGCA Circular. But if it has been passed very soon we will get the update."
