Coimbatore: Youth commits suicide for not being able to pay dues for his bike as he lost his job during lockdown.
Ayyasamy's son Lakshmanan (27) is from Murugan near, Sundarapuram, Coimbatore and worked as a labourer in a lathe work shop in the area. He had bought a motorcycle on credit last February. When complete lockdown was imposed due to the coronavirus spread, Lakshmanan suffered due to job loss. He was thus unable to repay the loan he had taken for the motorcycle and asked his friends and relatives for money to pay off the debt but he was not arrange the money.
Lakshmanan was depressed and feared that his bike would be confiscated. When he was at home yesterday evening he became frustrated with life and committed suicide by hanging. Neighbors who saw this informed the Podanur police. Police led by Sub-Inspector Murugesan immediately rushed to the spot and recovered Lakshmanan's body and sent it to Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. Podanur police have registered a case under Section 174 and are conducting an investigation.
