The old man who worked as a watchman for the Law College near Maruthamalai was killed today morning while he was walking towards a tea stall.
It is said that the old man was on the road towards Maruthamalai looking for a tea stall. A male elephant which suddenly crossed the roads hit the old man which killed him on the spot.
During police investigation it was revealed that the man was Muhammad Niyas who hailed from Selvapuram.
11 forest officials who have been involved in watching the elephants of the area, have now arrived at the scene and are handling this tragic incident.
