Kovai Kutralam opened after 9 months with restrictions: Over 1000 tourists visited today
Coimbatore; Kovai Kutralam which has been closed for the past 9 months due to coronavirus spread, reopened today with various restrictions and more than 1000 tourists have flocked. All tourist sites in Coimbatore were closed due to the coronavirus spread.
As a result, tourists were not allowed to visit Kovai Kutralam despite abundant water in the falls. The Tamil Nadu government had given permission to open tourist destinations with restrictions for the last 20 days.
Hence the movement of wildlife on the way to Kovai Kutralam Falls in the forest was monitored and the forest department has confirmed that there is no wildlife movement in the waterfall areas. So after 9 months, Kovai Kutralam has reopened today.
The forest department has imposed various restrictions on tourists visiting the falls. At the entrance, tourists are allowed only after checking their body temperature with a thermometer and wearing a mask is mandatory. Those who do not have a face mask can pay at the ticket counter and buy a face mask. Before boarding the vehicle from the Sadivayal area to the waterfall, the belongings are inspected to see if tourists are carrying prohibited items, including plastic.
There was a long queue at the entrance with social distancing and an entrance fee of Rs.50 was charged. Tourists are then taken to the falls with 20 members per bus.
As the Kovai Kutralam Falls reopened after a long time more than 1000 tourists from various districts including Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris, Tirupur and Kerala are flocking to the Sadivayal area to bathe in the falls.
