After a member of a Hindu group tried to occupy the 6 cent of land belonging to him, auto driver Jeevanantham tried to immolate himself and his family members infront of the Collector Office.
Coimbatore: Auto driver Jeevanantham who hailed from Varadarajapuram was associated with the AIADMK party tired to immolate himself along with with his wife and children and their pet dog in front of the Coimbatore district Collectorate.
Jeevanantham who poured petrol on his family and himself was stopped by journalists who were waiting outside the District Collectorate.
When Auto driver Jeevanantham was investigated by the Race Course police Jeevanantham alleged that “Manikandan of BJP had threatened him and is trying to grab his land” but during police investigation it was revealed that Manigandan was not from BJP and he was the state organiser of Hindu Munetra Kazhagam party. Jeevanantham alleges that Manikandan tried to occupy 6 cents of land in Varadarajapuram which belonged to Jeevanantham.
It was also revealed that Manikandan had issued death threats to Jeevanantham's family members. The Race Course police officials have taken them into custody and are investigating about this further. This incident created panic for a while at the collectorate.
