Coimbatore: Petition to Manager of the Welfare Society for a night train from Coimbatore to Thoothukudi via Pollachi. The Pollachi Railway Passengers' Welfare Association has submitted a petition to the Palakkad Divisional Manager to run a night train from Coimbatore to Thoothukudi via Pollachi.
They requested that the passenger train from Coimbatore to Madurai via Pollachi should be operated again and the Coimbatore Rameswaram should resume as it was operated when the meter gauge railway line was in operation. They also then requested for the Coimbatore Thoothukudi night train.
The train is being operated from Coimbatore via Pollachi, Palani, Madurai and Tenkasi. Coconut fiber industry is important in the Pollachi area hence they requested a freight station to be set up at Thippampatti railway station. The train will run from Coimbatore to Tambaram via Pollachi, Palani, Dindigul and Trichy and from Pollachi to Mettupalayam.
Ticket booking center is open at Pollachi Railway Station from 8 am to 2 pm. This is causing difficulty for the passenger hence they urged action should be taken to operate the booking center from 8 am to 8 pm. They suggested that the water from the Ambarampalayam river should be brought to the railway station for maintenance facilities.
