Protest to dismiss request on removing reservation in IITs in South Taluk office in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Various organizations protested in front of the South Taluk Office demanding the dismissal of request that reservation should not be implemented in IITs.

Various organizations led by Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam General Secretary K. Ramakrishnan staged a protest in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk office. Various organizations including the Viduthalai Siruthaigal, the Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam and SFI took part in it.

They condemned the report by Professor Ram Gopal Rao who had set up a committee to decide whether to provide reservations for the underprivileged which gave a result that the institute should not provide reservations to the backward classes at the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai. They urged the Tamil Nadu government to reject the report and implement the reservation in the appointment of professors and in student admissions.
