Various organizations across the country have been staging protests in support of the struggling farmers. As part of this, the Anaithinthia Manavar Matrum Ilagainar Perumandram besieged the Reliance Fresh supermarket in the Hope College area of Coimbatore.
When they came in a procession they were stopped by the police causing a tussle. They were also involved in a road roko. They argued with the police on arresting the executive members of the party at their homes as a precautionary measure.
Over 100 members were dragged and arrested by the police. The protest caused traffic congestion in the area for over half an hour.
