Coimbatore: Tamilnadu government has agreed to conduct the Jallikattu event this year amidst various regulations to limit the Covid-19 spread.
Jallikattu is one of the traditional sports of TamilNadu which is a part of long rich heritage. Jallikattu is a part of the Pongal festival which is the celebration of the harvest festival.
On the second day of Pongal "Mattu Pongal" is celebrated which is actually a day to thank and celebrate the cows and bulls which helps the farmers in the fields. Jallikattu event plays a major role in preserving the indigenous breed of bulls and cows.
With the Jallikattu event all set to happen, here are the rules issued by the TamilNadu State Government:
1. The total seating capacity to witness the events is reduced to 50% to avoid overcrowding.
2.During the Erudhu Vidum event a maximum of only 150 tamers are said to be allowed.
3. All the participants along with the owners of the bull will be undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing and thespectators will be let in only after proper thermal scanning is done.
4. Face mask and proper social distancing is mandatory for everyone.
