Coimbatore: Stir caused in Gandhipuram as youth wandered with sandalwood bars.
Coimbatore Gandhipuram Kattoor police patrolled inside the Gandhipuram bus stand at midnight yesterday. Police saw a man standing there suspiciously and conducted an investigation. It was revealed that bag contained sandalwood blocks.
They took him to the police station and he was identified as Mathu (age 32), of Dharmapuri. He also said that he was working as an employee in a private company in Periyanaickenpalayam and had taken sandalwood blocks when the sandalwood tree grown there was cut down and removed. Police are investigating whether what he said is true.
