Coimbatore: North Indian youth arrested for attempting to rob by breaking an ATM machine. There is a privately owned ATM at Somanur Road, Karumathampatti.
The unidentified man who came to the ATM center broke the surveillance camera in the ATM center and tried to steal the money from the ATM machine. The bank manager was alerted through an alarm fitted there. Bank officials immediately rushed to the ATM center. By the time they arrived the unidentified young man had escaped from there.
Following this, the bank officials informed the Karumathampatti police station with the CCTV footage recorded there. When the police searched for the burglar with his photo, they got a tip off that the youth was wandering around at the Karumathampatti 4 road junction.
Following this, the police went to the scene, caught the burglar and brought him to the police station for investigation. Investigation revealed that the youth's name was Sarjan Pashwan (age 24), a native of Chithamaaki, Bihar, who had been working in a restaurant at a private factory in Kaduvettipalayam area next to Karumathampatti for the past 2 months.
The investigation also revealed that Sarjan Pashwan, who was inebriated, tried to withdraw money from the ATM machine as he had no cash in hand. Following this, the Karumathampatti police filed a case against him, produced him before a judge this evening and remanded him in custody at the Avinashi sub jail.
