The Nilgiris: The incident where an elephant broke into a residential house in the Karumpalam area near Coonoor in the Nilgiris district and damaged food items has caused fear among the people of the area.
The elephants had damaged agricultural lands and ration shops in areas like Manjur and Kunda for the past one week in the Coonoor area of the Nilgiris district.
The villagers demanded that the forest department must take action to drive the elephants into dense forest before any untoward incidents occur as there is continuous elephant movement in the area.
