Protests on behalf of the DMK women's wing demanding the central government to withdraw the increase in gas cylinder prices.
Coimbatore: DMK women's wing protest demanding the central government to withdraw the increase in gas cylinder prices. They alleged that "the central government has raised the price of gas cylinders which is an essential need of all people. As the Central Government requested the public to give up subsidy, now the central government has stopped crediting subsidy to all.
With the price of a cylinder selling at more than 600 rupees, the central government has raised it by 100 rupees in just one month. Thus people from all walks of life are affected."

A protest was held in front of the South Taluk Office on behalf of the Coimbatore district DMK women's wing condemning the move by the central government.

DMK Property Protection Committee Deputy Chairman Pongalur Palanisamy addressed the gathering. Protesters chanted slogans against the central government, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the cylinder price.

The protest was conducted by Meena Jayakumar, Deputy Organizer, State Women's Wing Volunteer Team.

The protest was attended by a large number of people including Eswari Radhakrishnan, Eastern District Secretary Saraswati Pushparaj and West District Secretary Vanathi Nagaraj. More than 300 DMK women's wing members took part in the protest.
