Tirupur Electricity Board workers strike demand abandoning of privatization
Tirupur: More than 500 workers at the Tirupur Electricity Board office have been on strike, demanding that the government abandon privatizing the public sectors.

More than 500 electricity board workers and officials at the Tirupur Mettupalayam office have been on strike demanding that the Tamil Nadu government abandon its attempt to privatize various jobs under the Electricity Board and convert those who have been working as contract workers for many years into permanent workers.
The electricity board employees also said that they would engage in a series of protests if the talks held in Chennai fails.
