Coimbatore: Differently-abled protest as there was no response to their petition to the District Collector. More than 30 differently-abled people protested on behalf of the Oondrukol Arakattalai near the South Taluk Office in Coimbatore.
Protestors demanded to raise the allowance of 1,000 rupees to 5,000 rupees, to provide free housing land patta and also raised slogans that they should be provided with government jobs.
Karunakaran, the founder of the Oondrukol Arakkattalai, said that the protesters were from Salem, Namakkal and Trichy districts and demanded that the government increase the current allowance of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000. He also alleged that they are being demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for a free housing patta. They also added that those who have achieved in the field of sports have not yet got reservation in government jobs.
They petitioned at the District Collector's office and Tahsildar's office September 22nd and got no response for two months after the petition was filed. So they requested the government to fulfill their demands immediately.
