Coimbatore: In his letter, Pollachi MP Shanmuga Sundaram requested the railway minister for a swift enhancement of Podanur Jn to get Pit and Stabbing lines which helps the station to be model satellite railway station to have geographical advantages covering either states. He also requested for the stoppage of all important trains at Podanur Jn during the morning hours.
Pollachi MP Shanmuga Sundaram also requested the reintroduction of MG era trains which will be inevitable for the better usage of Podanur, Pollachi and Dindigul railway stations. He also requested for a quick restoration of Coimbatore-Rameshwaram train as a night express which will help in the welfare of passengers, pilgrims, shipment of vegetables, seafoods and business commuters.
The Pollachi MP in his letter also requested the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to enable the Tiruchendur-Pollachi express to be extended till Mettupalayam which will increase the occupancy rate which will generate revenue as pilgrims can now cover Pollachi Masaniamman temple, Coimbatore Maruthamalai temple and Metupalayam Vana Bathirakali temple and other tourists visiting Nilgiris. He also mentioned that this project is very imminent as the Amirtha express will cover Pallakad-Pollachi sector.
MP Shanmuga Sundaram in his letter also proposed for a new Madurai - Mettupalayam daytime intercity superfast express connecting Pollachi and Palani. He also requested the immediate reopening of Pollachi, Palani and Coimbatore passenger services.
He also requested for a new spl train connecting Coimbatore - Tuticorin via Pollachi and Palani. The train will connect the industrial city directly with the port city which will help in the boom of the current economy.
Member of Parliament Shanmuga Sundaram in his letter requested for a new train service between Coimbatore-Senkottai via Palani which connects the delta districts from Pollachi.
He also requested the Railway Minister to reconsider the decision of opening Kovilpalayam railway station in the Pollachi-Podanur section and also to complete the remaining works in Road under the bridge (RUB) Madukkarai which is pending forseveral decades. By the completion of the project the bottleneck track near the underground can be solved.
