Coimbatore: The people of Kallapalayam area and the farmers around Chettipalayam area have demanded that action be taken to rehabilitate the waterbody in Coimbatore Chettipalayam municipality and increase the ground water source.
Coimbatore: The people of Kallapalayam area and the farmers around Chettipalayam area have demanded that action be taken to rehabilitate the waterbody in Coimbatore Chettipalayam municipality and increase the ground water source.
In this context, it is planned to bring the treated water from the Ondiputhur Wastewater Treatment Plant to the forest pond through a pipe to augment the ground water in the Chettipalayam forest pond. Accordingly, the Public Works Department and the Water Resources Department are to jointly initiate such work. For this, Coimbatore has been allocated Rs 4.76 crore.
In this context, Minister SP Velumani todayinaugurated the Bhoomi Puja for this forest shallow groundwater augmentation project. The event was attended by MLA Ettimadai Shanmugam, Madukkarai Municipal Corporation Secretary Shanmukaraja, Madukkarai Union Secretary Satish Kumar, government officials and many others.
