The Tamilnadu Election Commission had requested for new Electronic Voting Machines for the upcoming elections which will be used along with the existing EVM's in the state.
Post this request from the State Election Commission, EVM machines from other states have been brought to Tamilnadu under the custody of district election officials.
The EVM machines have now arrived at the Nilgiris from Maharashtra in two big trucks.
Voting Machines like Ballot Unit - 830, Control Unit - 479, VVPAT - 560 have arrived in Nilgiris.
Nilgiri district has 3 legislative assembly constituencies Ooty, Coonoor and Gudalur. The EVM machines in 683 voting booths were checked on their working condition by District Collector Innocent Divya and other important political party members and then stored safely under tight security at the Finger Post Additional District Collector Office.
