Democratic Women's Union staged a protest against the increase in cylinder prices by singing 'oppari'
Coimbatore: Democratic Women's Union staged a protest against the increase in cylinder prices by singing 'oppari'. The central government is raising the price of a cylinder despite it being an essential need of all people. Thus the common people were greatly affected. Following the request by the Central Government to give up subsidy, few gave up and now the Government has stopped the subsidy for all. With the price of a cylinder selling at more than 700 rupees, the central government has raised it by 100 rupees in just one month.
Thus people from all walks of life are affected. Condemning the move by the central government, the All India Democratic Women's Association staged a protest last night in the Netaji Nagar area of Avarampalayam in Coimbatore by garlanding the gas cylinder. The protest was held under the chairmanship of District Treasurer Jyoti Mani and a large number of women took part in the protest.
