Coimbatore: The Forest officer fined Rs. 1,000 each for 15 youths who tried to trespass into the forest. The forest on Coonoor Road near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district is home to a wide variety of wildlife including leopard, elephant, bison and deer. forest ranger Palaniraja received information that some youths have trespassed into the forest area under the Mettupalayam forest.
The forest department officials led by Palaniraja engaged in intensive patrolling within the forest on Coonoor Road. It was revealed that 15 youths in the area had parked their vehicle in the Coonoor Road forest on the way to Ooty in their two-wheeler and trespassed. Following this, the forest ranger took them to the Mettupalayam forest office and warned the youth that trespassing was a crime. He imposed fine of Rs.15,000 at the rate of Rs.1000 per 15 youths.
Speaking to reporters, Forest Ranger Palaniraja said that trespassing into the forest was a crime and public should not engage in such dangerous activities
