Winter Cold sets in Coimbatore after the monsoon rain

Coimbatore: The people of Coimbatore district who enjoyed by the recent rains have started to feel the cold set in over the last few days. The temperature dropped considerably during the nights and even the days are devoid of much sunlight.


Coimbatore: The people of Coimbatore district who enjoyed by the recent rains have started to feel the cold set in over the last few days. The temperature dropped considerably during the nights and even the days are devoid of much sunlight.

The Coimbatore district was getting colder before the onset of the monsoon, but now it has now become much colder. Especially in the forest border villages, the sunriss is visible only after 7 pm due to the mist. Vehicles are unable to move due to fog at midnight and early morning. Most freight lorries are parked on the road, especially in Madukkarai, Nilambur bypass, due to snow on the road.

As of yesterday, the air humidity was 67 percent. On normal days the humidity is only 15 to 20 percent. But, it has now tripled. Soil moisture has reached 15 percent. According to the Department of Agricultural Meteorology, it will be cold till February and through January.

The minimum temperature has gone down to 18 degrees Celsius through the last few days and the maximum temperature has been a pleasant 28 degrees through the day.
