Physical education teacher charged for assaulting a teacher's association administrator
Coimbatore: A physical education teacher has been charged for assaulting a teacher's association administrator. Karthik (38) isfrom Ezhil Nagar near Thiruverumbur in Trichy district and is the founder of the Teachers Association AIPCEU. Six professors from Pavendar Bharathidasan College of Engineering near Mathur in Trichy district had complained to the National Human Rights Commission that the college did not pay them.
The Commission forwarded the complaint to the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Trichy Deputy Commissioner of Labour Association inquired into the case. The teachers who filed the complaint with the Labor Court yesterday were asked to close the case. It was accepted by the Deputy Commissioner.
Govindan, a physical education teacher who was appearing in favour of the college at the time, got into an argument with Karthik and attacked him. Karthik was injured and he lodged a complaint against Govindan at the Trichy Cantonment Police Station.
Based on this, the police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation. It is to be noted that Karthik had earlier gone in person and openly complained to the inquiry committee set up by the Tamil Nadu government to investigate the allegations against Anna University vice-chancellor Surappa.
Many teachers from Coimbatore have condemned this act and asked to take action immediately.
