Coimbatore: BSNL workers on hunger strike as authorities fail to implement the agreed salary norms for employees on contract basis.
The hunger strike which happened at the main branch of Pollachi Telephone Exchange Office was headed by the BSNL employees union branch secretary R. Prabagaran.
The petition and requests were explained in detail to the attendees and the officials by S. Sikandar batsha, union head of Tamilnadu telecommunication contract employees, Udumalaipet branch.
The BSNL contract workers are protesting against the delay made by the government on implementing the approved changes made in the salaries of the contract employees which was agreed at a meeting held on December 5th.
The protestors went on a hunger strike and also chanted slogans against the organisation's delay in implementing the rules. Over 20 people participated in the hunger strike that happened today.
