Coimbatore: More than 100 farmers arrested for besieging toll booth demanding to repeal Agriculture Amendment Laws. The All India Farmers' Coordinating Committee has been on a two-day sit-in protest in front of the Coimbatore District Collector's Office in Coimbatore for the past two days in support of the farmers protesting in Delhi, demanding the withdrawal of the recently introduced agrarian amendment bill by the central government.
For the third day in a row, the All India Farmers' Coordinating Committee and the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi staged a sit-in protest at a toll booth in Kaniyur, Coimbatore district, demanding the repeal of the Agriculture Act and the 2020 and the Electricity Act.
They also chanted slogans against the 2020 Electricity Act and demanded the repeal of 3 agricultural laws introduced by the Central Government. Police arrested more than 100 farmers. Heavy police security was put in place at the Kaniyur toll booth due to the farmers' protest.
