Public consultation meeting on underground sewerage pipe laying held under the chairmanship of Corporation Commissioner


Coimbatore: Public consultation meeting on underground sewerage pipe laying in left out areas to be held under the chairmanship of Corporation Commissioner.

Consultation meeting for Kavundampalayam, Thudiyalur areas was held at Thudiyalur SS Kamalesh Kalyana Mandapam, for Vadavalli, Veerakeralam it was held in KC Kalveerampalayam wedding hall, and in Mani mahal for Singanallur, Ondipudur and Peelamedu areas.

Work is already underway to construct an underground sewer pipe in the areas under the Coimbatore Corporation. Of these, a new sewer pipeline project will be set up in Singanallur, Ondipudur and Peelamedu, which have been left unfinished by the Corporation, and in the areas including Vadavalli, Veerakeralam, Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur by the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board.



Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer P. Kumaravel Pandian said, the waste will be collected at the respective places in the Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur areas where the new underground sewer will be connected and taken to the waste treatment plant through the main sewage treatment plant. There the waste collected from the Noyyal River, Vadavalli and Veerakeralam areas will be carried through the nearby Sanganur stream. Similarly, the underground project will be taken to the treatment plant and through the nearby Kumaraswamy (Muttannankulam) tributary stream to the Noyyal river with the assistance of the underpass project to be implemented in the areas of the wards under Coimbatore Corporation such as Ganapathy, Ganapathy Managar, Thaneerpandal and Ondipudur.

The waste will be collected at these places and taken to the 60MLD waste treatment plant located at Ondipudur where it will be treated. The Corporation Commissioner said that all the 6 areas will be transformed into hygienic and clean areas once the project is completed and put into use. Following this, the public informed the Commissioner of their views and submitted them as petitions.

The meeting was attended by City Engineer A. Lakshmanan, Executive Engineer Parvathy, Tamil Nadu Drainage Board Administrative Engineer Radhika, Tamil Nadu Drainage Board Assistant and Administrative Engineer Meera and other assistant engineers.
