Tourists happy as Azhiyar Dam Park near Pollachi reopens after 8 months.


Coimbatore: Tourists are happy as Azhiyar Dam Park near Pollachi reopens after 8 months. The Tamil Nadu government had ordered the closure of tourist sites in Tamil Nadu due to the threat of the coronavirus.

The government is announcing various relaxations as the number of infections is slowly decreasing. Kodaikanal and Ooty in Tamil Nadu has already given permission to tourists and have opened all tourist sites following the guidelines laid down by the government.

Following this, tourist sites including Azhiyar Dam, Monkey Falls and Park near Pollachi were permitted to be opened. As a result, many tourists from various districts of Tamil Nadu came to Azhiyar Park with their families today. Temperature checking was done at the entrance for tourists coming to the park. Also they were advised to wear masks and follow social distancing.

Tourists were advised to follow the guidelines laid down by the government before being allowed inside. Eight months later the Azhiyar Dam Park has reopened and tourists have been enjoying taking a stroll around with their families.



Also the children enjoyed playing games like swing and slides. Tourists said that for 8 months the families were unable to go outside due to the threat of the coronavirus and also because the tourist sites were closed. Tourists said it was a joy to be out with the family after a long break.
