5,000 Micro industries of 'COTMA' association in Coimbatore and Tirupur will be shut down Tomorrow in support of Foundry Industries indefinite strike
Coimbatore: More than 5,000 micro industries functioning at Coimbatore and Tirupur districts of 'COTMA' association have decided to shut down their units one day (tomorrow) in support of the Indefinite strike by Foundry industries at Coimbatore which begins tomorrow.
Coimbatore, Tiruppur Districts Micro and Cottage Industries Association (COTMA) President, C. SivaKumar in a press release has said, "Administration council meeting of our association was held today. During the meeting we discussed various issues and made various decisions. There are more than 50,000 micro industries functioning at Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts in which more than 7 lakh people have got employment opportunities. Castings play a vital role in all industry sectors since it is the main raw material for various products manufacturing."
"There are more than 600 foundries functioning at Coimbatore district. Steep price increase of raw materials has pushed the entire foundry units to crisis. Condemning this price hike and to get the attention from the governments, More than 400 foundries of 'COSMAFAN' association have decided to start indefinite strike from Tomorrow. On behalf of 'COTMA' we have also decided to support their initiative. In order to show our gratitude towards that association, we have decided to shut down all the industries tomorrow. There are more than 5,000 members in our association from Coimbatore and Tirupur. All their micro units will be closed tomorrow in support of the indefinite strike by the foundry industrialists."
