About 66 students and 5 staff of the IIT Madras institution are said to be infected with Covid-19.
Coimbatore: A total number of 32 new cases have been reported on Sunday at the IIT Campus and the Tamilnadu health department have now ordered for a temporary lockdown.
A circular has been issued at the campus which states the shutdown of hostel, library and other department centres for a complete lockdown until further notice.
The day scholars have asked to remain and work from home and to isolate themselves and the students and staff's who reside at the campus are requested to adhere to their rooms and are advised to maintain social distancing for their own safety.
Also the students and staff at the campus are requested to contact the IIT Madras hospital members if they have symptoms of Covid-19.
The samples of 408 students have been collected so far and the infected patients have been isolated and sent for treatment.
