Coimbatore: Training for wildlife survey held at Attakatti in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve. The Anaimalai Tiger Reserve is located in the Western Ghats next to Pollachi.
The Pollachi, Valparai, Manampalli and Topslip (Ulandi) four wildlife sanctuaries under the Pollachi Forest Division are undergoing annual summer and winter wildlife surveys on behalf of the Forest Department. This year's Winter Wildlife Survey is scheduled to run from tomorrow until the 21st.
The first training camp for this was held today at Pollachi Valparai Road - Attakatti Forest Department Training Arena.
Led by Anaimalai Tiger Reserve Pollachi Forest District Forest Officer Arokkiyaraj Xavier, the training camp was attended by forest personnel from 4 wildlife sanctuaries including Pollachi and Valparai and anti-poaching guards. Following this, 62 straight paths will be set up in the four forest areas from tomorrow morning and the forest staff will be engaged in the task of surveying wildlife.
