Number devotees turning up for Amavasai festival in Masaniamman temple is low due to COVID-19 threat
Coimbatore: Only few devotees turned up for Amavasai festival in Masaniamman temple due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Anaimalai Masaniamman Temple near Pollachi attracts a large number of devotees not only from the locals but also from the southern districts and other states including Kerala on Fridays and New Moon Ammavasai.

The new moon for this month happened yesterday and the Anaimalai Masaniamman Temple which is usually visited by a large number of devotees on the new moon day has special buses for the pilgrims run by the government.

But due to coronavirus disease, the number of devotees on New Moon and Fridays has been low for the last few months. However, a small number of devotees came to the Masaniamman Temple for darshan.

The temple was closed the night before the new moon due to coronavirus prevention measures. The temple was open as usual from 6am to 8pm yesterday. Devotees who came to the temple observed the social distancing and had their darshan.
