More than 300 protest demanding 20% reservation for Vanniyars
Coimbatore: More than 300 people take part in a protest at the village administration offices demanding a 20 percent separate reservation for the Vanniyars.
PMK founder Ramadoss announced a series of protests, demanding a 20 percent separate reservation for the Vanniyars. Based on this, the train blockade and the protest in front of the Central Government Office were held in Chennai from the 1st to the 4th. Following this, Dr. Ramdas had announced that a mass protest on behalf of the PMK would be held in front of the office of 621 VAOs in 12 second phases across Tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, at various places in Coimbatore today, the people of PMK were engaged in a struggle to file a petition at the village administration office. More than 300 PMK and Vanniyar Sangams took part in the petition protest in the Puthur area of Peelamedu in Coimbatore.

Led by Deputy Secretary General of State Kovai Raj and Deputy Secretary of State for Youth Affairs Ashok Sreenithi, the protesters marched carrying party flags, Vanniyar Sangam flags and banners related to reservation. Due to the large crowd, the police blocked the road with ropes and barricades.

Following this, the protesters marched in front of the road chanting slogans and submitting a petition to Selaripalayam VAO Devika demanding 20% reservation for the Vanni people. Following this, PMK Deputy Secretary of State Ashok Sreenithi told reporters that the struggle for the 20% reservation for the Vanniyar people led by Dr. Anbumani Ramadass, a youth leader would be won and that the protest by Anbumani's brothers and sisters would not end until the reservation was given. He added that the people of Coimbatore district will work tirelessly to get more reservations.
He said that if no action was taken the next phase of the protest would be 100 times bigger than the current one.
