People participate in a complete lockdown protest requesting the government to take immediate action to control the wild elephant that is roaming the areas of Pandhalur.
The Nilgiris: An elephant attacked and killed the panchayat councillor Anandraj (49) and his son Prasanth (21) who were traveling to their village after work from the city on Sunday.

Although the locals have made continuous complaints and concerns to the forest officials regarding the issue the elephant is still roaming in the area.

It is said that the same elephant has killed about 3 people in 3 days and the scared public and government tea estate workers participated in a shutdown protest requesting the government to capture the elephant and leave it inside deep forest zone.
Anandraj became the councillor of the area when he contested in the past election standing as a part of DMK Party.
