Coimbatore: People who have been living without electricity for 30 years in Coimbatore petition to the District Collector to take action. The forest department has refused to give electricity connection to Valparai and Pollachi tribal villages in the Coimbatore district due to the presence of thick forest and fearing threat to wildlife. But locals in the area reveal shocking information that more than 30 families are without electricity in Bogalur Koolikavundanpudur, near the densely populated Telungupalayam, Annur.

People in the area, who have been living in the area for the past 30 years, said they had to walk a kilometer to charge their cell phones because of the lack of electricity. They said studying and watching television was a dream to their children. They petitioned the district collector to immediately issue an order and provide electricity connection to those who have been living in the same place for more than 30 years.
