Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani today inaugurated the propaganda vehicle which is planned to promote the production of millets by the farmers of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The food safety department under the Tamilnadu Agricultural Ministry has been trying to promote the production of millets by the farmers. To increase awareness of farmers, District Collector Rajamani today inaugurated the propaganda vehicles whose role is to promote the production of millets by the farmers of Coimbatore.

Assistant Director of Agricultural Department Chitra Devi said that the vehicle focuses on creating awareness and also to encourage the farmers to sow millet varieties in their land.

She also said that the propaganda vehicle will travel to Madukarai, Thondamuthur, Annur, Karamadai, Pollachi and 12 areas within the Coimbatore district.

The main reason behind the importance to sow the millets is that they can be grown on lands with minimal water soil fertility. She said that the propaganda vehicle is bound to increase awareness among the farmer community.
