Coimbatore: Petition submitted to the District Collector to distribute medical equipment for dsiabled with spinal cord injury. The disabled with spinal cord injuries met with the District Collector and filed a petition.

In the petition he said that the injured disabled people are unable to carry out any work and are always dependent on someone. The petition said they are physically and financially distressed and urged the district collector to fulfill their demands. The petition said people suffering from spinal cord injuries undergo urinary tract infections, bed soresand hence they have asked to appoint a government doctor to treat the victims.

They also said that the government assistance provided to spinal cord injuries under the Para-quad scheme was not available to spinal cord injuries in Coimbatore as it was available in other districts. According to Santosh Kumar, there are more than 100 people with spinal cord injuries in Coimbatore district. He said that the medical relief provided by the government should be made available immediately and requested that these be provided through the Department of Primary Health Care.

Following this, they met the District Collector and requested him to immediately consider and fulfill their requests.
