With a minor girl being kidnapped from her home by her lover's parents they are now arrested under the POCSO act.
Coimbatore: A 17 year-old girl Vellalore, Coimbatore was studying diploma at a college in the city.
She was friends with a guy named Saravanan (23) who was a CNC operator. This friendship later turned into love. Saravanan who was a regular called to the girl, proposed his love for the girl during lockdown and convinced her to get married to him.
Saravanan late in the month of October eloped to Madurai with the young girl and got married. The couple then returned to the groom's house in Peelamedupudur.
Parents of the girl who found out that their daughter was missing registered a complaint at the local police station.
Police who were investigating the case, recently found out the girl was married and that she was in Peelamedupudur. The case was transfered to the Coimbatore East all Women's PoliceStation.
The police during their visit to check upon the girl were stopped by Saravanan's father Subramaniam (55) and mother Ponni (48) who said that there was no one else in the house and that their son was not married.
The police who suspected foul play went inside their home to find the girl locked up inside a room. The policerecovered the girl and sent her back to her parents.
Saravanan's parents Subramaniam and Ponni were arrested under the POCSO act for abetting in the kidnapping of a minor girl and enabled her hiding.
The police is now in search for Saravanan who had disappeared earlier.
