Coimbatore: Petition submitted to take action against gold workshop owner who hid gold and blamed employees for it. There are numerous gold jewelry workshops operating in the Coimbatore district. Thousands of people, including North Indians, work in gold jewelry workshops in the Selvapuram area.
Eleven people were working in a workshop owned by Babu in the Ponnaiyarajapuram area. A complaint was lodged at the police station alleging that 650 grams of gold jewelry had gone missing. Employees at the workshop reported that the owner had hidden the jewelry and blamed the staff instead. They petitioned the district collector to take appropriate action.
According to them, on the night of 31.10.2020, when everyone returned home after work, the owner told all the employees to come the next day and said that 650 grams of gold was missing and the employees were responsible for it. The owner, who has repeatedly claimed the gold was missing, said it was later found. The owner of the workshop hid the gold and blamed the staff. They have complained that the police for the last 45 days in the name of investigation they have had mental stress due to home inspection. They submitted a petition requesting the district collector to urge the police to investigate the allegation by the owner Babu as soon as possible.
