Coimbatore: Tree debris Crusher Machine donated to the Corporation on behalf of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central. In Coimbatore, it is customary to cut down and remove weak and dying trees. This avoids the risk of tree branches falling on the roads or people during the rainy season.
Traffic is disrupted due to the presence of fallen twigs and branches on the roadsides. Some people dump garbage on it and turn the area into a dumping ground. To avoid this there was a demand among the people to use the felled branches and crush them to be used as compost for the same tree again.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central, the machine was fitted to a tractor and donated to the Coimbatore Corporation. This machine is currently working on shredding tree branches.
West Zone Swachh Bharat Ambassador Menaka said, "The machine was donated to the Coimbatore Corporation on behalf of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central by Sitharaman, the former chairman of the club. The machine is attached to a tractor and the wood that is crushed is used as compost to the same tree. The rest is transported to micro composting centers. This machine can transport wood that needs 8 lorries to accommodate. The machine is worth 12 lakhs".
A corporation official said, "This work is currently being carried out in the west zone . The machine will be sent to the required places in the areas under the corporation."
