Road roko by Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi condemning arrest of party head ER Eeswaran
Coimbatore: Cadres of Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) protested against the arrest of their party General Secretary, ER Eeswaran who was arrested in Pollachi today during an agitation.
Protests on behalf of the KDMK and Farmers' Association took place in Maranda Halli, Dharmapuri district, demanding the implementation of a link canal project to bring water from the Then Pennai River to Tholchetti water body. Later, party's general secretary ER Eswaran was arrested.
Condemning this, more than 30 members of the party gathered on Kamaraj Road from Singanallur to Hope College to protest against arrest of General Secretary E.R. Easwaran.
Those involved in the road roko raised slogans against the TN government and Police department and demandedrelease of their party head
Traffic was halted for a brief time on Kamaraj Road due to the agitation. Following which, Police arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd.
In Pollachi, the protest was led by KDMK District Secretary, Nithyanandan in front of BSNL office.
The protesters raised slogans against his arrest and alleged that the CM who calls himself a farmer cannot act against the interests of the farming community.
