One more arrested for drug trafficking in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: One more person has been arrested for drug trafficking in Coimbatore.
Police have arrested and jailed another man wanted in connection with a drug trafficking case at the Coimbatore airport. Nagaratnam (44), a resident of Periyar nagar, Thuvakudi, Trichy district, arrived at the Coimbatore airport on the 5th to go to Sharjah. He told the Security Force there that his friends had given him an empty suitcase and that he was skeptical about it.
During the search, 1.2 kg of drugs worth Rs 7 crore were found in the suitcase. Investigations revealed that Arul (53) and Ali Bhai (46), friends of the driver Nagaratnam, had given the empty suitcase. Police led by DSP Manoharan of the Narcotics Control Bureau were searching for them.
Police arrested Arul (53), a resident of Thuvakudi, Trichy yesterday and also arrested Ali Bhai who was hiding in the Athupalam area of Coimbatore last night. Police said the two who have been arrested have been acting as agents and they have been given drugs by a drug trafficking gang in Kerala. He said that they are gathering information about this.
