Coimbatore: Elderly man trampled to death by an elephant in Coimbatore. Elephant movement continues to increase in Anaikatti, Kanuvai, Narasipuram and Thondamuthur near Coimbatore.
The tribals who live in this area are being frequently attacked and killed by an elephant. Currently, elephants are entering the city due to the northeast monsoon. A male elephant was strolling in the Ilachi area under the Kembanur forest department at 5 am this morning. Arumugam, 75, a resident of Thondamuthur Vanjiamman Nagar area, went to the area to relieve himself.
The elephant attacked him and he died on the spot.Following this, Arumugasamy 19, Muthu 18, who went to the area, was chased away by the elephant. The people of the area immediately informed the Boluvampatti Forest Department. Forest department rushed to the spot and recovered Arumugam's body and sent it to a government hospital for autopsy. The injured teenagers Arumugasami and Muthu are receiving treatment. The people of the area have said that they are continuously being disturbed by the elephants and have demanded to provide adequate security.
