Coimbatore: Vigilance officials inspect traffic check post in Pollachi and confiscated Rs. 1,37,000 unaccounted cash and are investigating 4 persons in connection with this.
Vigilance officials received a tip-off that bribes were being collected at the regional traffic checkpoints in the Pollachi area.
The Vigilance Police led by Deputy Superintendent Ganesan conducted a surprise raid at the Pollachi taluk Gopalapuram regional traffic check post in Coimbatore district at 5 am today. Rs. 50,200 of unaccounted cash was confiscated.
Police are investigating motor vehicle inspector Senthilkumar and assistant Srikanth who were on duty there. Following this, the Vigilance Department raided a check post in the area including Perur Madukkarai in Coimbatore district. 87 thousand rupees of unaccounted cash were confiscated. Motor vehicle inspectors Saroja and Clerk Arunkumar, who were on duty there, are being investigated.

During the inspection, a lot of tender coconuts were placed in the doorway of the checkpoint. It is to be noted that when the traffic officers inspected the vehicles they did not even leave behind anything including tender coconuts and fruits.
