The new livestock law will affect the livestock owners and destroy traditional bulls: DMK environment Secretary Karthikeyan Sivasenathipathy
Coimbatore: DMK State Environmental Protection Team Secretary Karthikeya Sivasenathipathi alleges that the new law introduced by the Tamil Nadu government will severely affect livestock owners and will destroy traditional bulls and affect the livelihood of farmers.
DMK State Environmental Protection Team Secretary Karthik Sivasenathipathi consulted with cattle breeders and rekla racing activists in the Kedimedu area of Pollachi South Union District, Tirupur South District during the campaign called 'Stalin's Voice Vidiyalai Nokki'. Following the meeting, farmers in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts accused the Tamil Nadu government of not allowing rakla racing.
Responding to this, Karthikeyan Sivasenapathy said that the regime change in Tamil Nadu would take place in five months and then the existing restrictions on rekla racing would be lifted. He met the coconut farmers and coir production in the Sundarakavundanur area. While addressing the press, he said the Tamil Nadu government has brought in a new law for livestock breeding and has formed an organization.
He added that though there are Department of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Care for traditional breeds the new law allows their livestock to be registered with the authorities and for officers to be given the right to enter the home and check for livestock. He said, "Under this law failure to register their traditional livestock will result in a fine of Rs 2 lakh and allows them to seize property of the farmers. The purpose of the law introduced by the fake farmer Edappadi government was to destroy the traditional livestock and to bring foreign breeds into business and breed them in the Tamil Nadu".
The event was attended by Tirupur South District Officer Jayarama Krishnan MLA, Pollachi MP Shanmugasundar, District General Committee members Mubarak Ali. Kathirvel, Kanniyappan and others.
