DMK Environment Secretary Karthikeya Sivasenapathy has accused the Tamil Nadu government of trying to destroy the traditional livestock

Coimbatore: DMK Environment Secretary Karthikeya Sivasenapathy has accused the Tamil Nadu government of trying to destroy the traditional livestock of Tamil Nadu through the Tamil Nadu Livestock Breeding Act 2019.

"Vidiyalai Nokki - Stalin's Voice" was held at Kedimedu, Sundaragavundanur and Suleeswaranpatti areas in Pollachi area under Udumalai assembly constituency.

Karthikeyan Shivasenapathy was present in the meeting and the farmers who spoke to him said that coconut farming in Pollachi is currently facing a series of problems, including disease outbreaks and falling prices.

After hearing the grievances of the farmers, Karthikeyan Sivasenapathy told reporters that those who keep traditional bulls in Tamil Nadu should register them and if they do not maintain them, they will be fined Rs 2 lakh and arrested.

He said, "The Tamil Nadu government has also made way for the confiscation of property in case of failure to pay the fine. This is a move to destroy our traditional breed of cows. The DMK election manifesto will include measures to protect the traditional livestock of Tamil Nadu. Breeding of traditional cows by Jersey breed cows imported from abroad will be prevented."
