Coimbatore: Encroachments at Panaimarathur area near Coimbatore Muttannankulam were demolished todat. More than 30 houses were demolished by the corporation authorities in Panaimarathur near the Muthanankulam
Work is in progress to clear the encroachments by the Corporation authorities in the areas adjacent to the ponds in the areas under the Corporation of Coimbatore. In the last few days, the task of demolishing 2,000 houses in Muthanankulam was completed. The occupants were provided alternative accomodation by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board in areas including Malumichampatti, Keeranatham and Ukkadam.
50 houses built in Panaimarathur near Muttannankulam were demolished and were allotted houses in alternative places earlier. Of these 15 houses who refused to evacuate, the corporation administration issued a warning notice last week and also disconnected the power supply after which, they vacated their houses. Following this, these houses were demolished by the corporation administration.
